Students at the Charlottesville Performing Arts School have been participating in donating their beautiful locks to the Pantene Beautiful Lengths program which offers free wigs through the American Cancer Society to women with cancer and alopecia. So far five students have donated their hair multiple times for a total of over 88 inches of hair! Students Corinne and Makayla (age 11) began donating at the early age of 5 and continue to every 2 years when their hair is long enough. Brianna (age 15) began donating at age 7. Amber (age 7) is a first time donor along with Sarah Lindsay (age 12)! All the girls have lost family members or friends to cancer and hope to motivate other dancers to do the same.
CPAS is very proud of them and they have been recognized on NBC29, the Pantene Beautiful Lengths Facebook page, and the Daily Progress. If you are interested in participating in a future donation event, please contact the school! Check out the NBC29 video coverage of two hair donation events below!
